Over all, the sewage plant was not as bad as you might imagine. the floors never had more than a splash or two and the air exchangers kept the atmosphere clear. Mostly it was the IDEA of where I was working that was grossing me out!
I still wouldn't have wanted to trip and fall into the deep end!
Did we ever do a lot of that! The Middle East had a bumper year on gasoline back then! The energy crisis wasn't caused by big business...it was us driving between Wabush and Fermont and back!!
Yep...One of the by's had the misfortune of sticking his unconscious arm out through tent flap. Lesson Learned there huh?! Can you say 'Itch'?
It can also get cold and wet on top of Ol' Smokey, with a gale of wind! But not that summer. It was tinderbox dry and hot...perfect hatching weather for flying insects...it is really easy to appreciate how people who find themselves lost in the boreal forest can sometimes be driven insane!
Or so I'm told...
that's the thing when teenagers start to experiment with booze...they don't know how to do it! So they will act like their buddies say or they will try and emulate some movie star's drinking style. Either way it's a disaster! I do not recommend that anyone ever, ever, ever drink a flask of rhum glubglubglub...ever. Just sayin'.
I suppose by now anyone reading these 'Tickles' has noticed an absence of regular drawings! Well, I only have one word to say to that..."Summer" then I have a few more words to say..."in Sculpin Tickle". Short and precious it cannot be ignored but rest assured that there are more drawings coming!!
Good Times! Well, tonight as I was sitting and drawing the 'Tickle' I was watching the Supertramp Concert in Paris, 1979...floods of memories! Excellent dvd for fans. I'm still behind in the drawings but I wrote seven tonight so progress continues...as does the busy life and times of boring ol' me!
My kids were listening to some of the music and commented a lot like..."They did this one??" or "I know more of this music than I thought I did..." and so on. All in all an enjoyable evening spent sitting on my arse drawing and writing...a nice break after the last couple of weeks. School's Out ... tomorrow!
It was a spooky place to even walk by! A room where every teacher could be lazing around or nursing headaches or planning detentions or drinking beverages not reccommended for children...and smoking cigarettes...lots of them!
I don't know how many of our teachers were 'drunk teaching' but I know that some were! We didn't mind though...hell, we had a few 'drunk studenting' examples on the go as well! All kidding aside though, our teachers were pretty good...considering the drink! lol.
There were of course genuine instances of someone 'failing' who had tried but not soon enough, or had worked at the topic but messed up on the exam...and so on. But the gist was, not everyone that failed was a dummy. Some just needed to work harder or improve their handling of exams!
