Before I start, let me just say that I went the extra mile (kilometer?) when researching this strip...I actually took part in a flurry of 'Craft Fairs'! As is nearly always the case some of the items I saw for sale were in my humble opinion, not very crafty...but some other items I would elevate to the rank of 'Fine Art'! For one, the hand making of wonderful clothing, parkas, trigger mitts, etc. requires a skill and dedication that not many people have these days. For another, paintings and photographs presented by those well versed in the art of their discipines were breathtaking. But what I found most interesting about Craft Fairs were the people; both participants and prospective customers.
Panel 5 shows a comment I've heard over and over..."I could make that..." To those I say, "Yes, you probably could, but you're not going to are you?!" That's the whole point. A Craft Fair is a chance to pick up some locally made items and at a pretty good price to boot! Go on, I dare you!
Oh, by the way, I'm still searching for the answer to Panel 8...so if you know of any...
