In those days we knew nothing about cancer causing agents and cared less! I sometimes lie awake at night wondering if particular aches and pains are the blooming of some awful sickness brought about by childhood games played with deadly fly dope! Anyone else remember that stuff?

In the early days, the townfolk were relentless in encouraging the town officials to do something about the carnivorous insects. Hence the fog machine. The first time they used the machine, DDT was mixed with diesel fuel to create the great banks of insect killing fog. The town fathers realized that they had created a Pied Piper. Since they were unsure of the long-lasting effects of exposure to DDT, they decided never again to mix DDT or anything else with the diesel fuel. So the fog machine was a placebo to assure the good pioneers that something was being done to protect them from the winged hordes.

Those crafty Town Fathers...pulled the wool over the eyes of the populace. That goes a long ways to explain why it didn't seem to work too!
