I don't know that it's like that anymore. People have gone into the woods to private cabins more and more...the mining operations have encircled the area. I am sure it's not the same. Certainly the spirit would still be there in the towns, or at least I hope it is!
But it was the feeling there in the wilderness of Labrador, the knowledge that you were there as a group pretty much isolated from the rest of humanity, that feeling brought us together. It was around those campfires that I started to decide that someday I would play a guitar...simply because it was driving me nuts that nobody could finish a song! I still can't...but I fake it!
