the 'ash'

Yep. Way back then the right Honourable Joe Smallwood came to town and declared us 'The Local Improvement District of Labrador City' and forever saddled the town with the hoietie toietie title of 'city'. How grand was that! Of course every 'City' needed a social club and the 'Ash' was it. The general populace of the community would find themselves partaking of spirits and having a scuff quite often way back then...in the simple days, when music was played by musicians! Lord, real musicians! Live! Standing right there in front of you as you danced! How weird that must seem today!! Honest to goodness talent...right freaking there! Years later the entire planet, Labrador City no exception, was caught up in the 'Disco' fad and the Ash became the center of attraction when Clive and company started to rockin' (although to my tastes, Chen's was best at the Ski Lodge...just a preference)
Now days of course the walls of the Ash are silent. But I bet if you listen really close late at night (all you Paranormal Hounds take heed) you can hear the heartbeat of the early days.

I agree the ski lodge was the best! Wish I had skied more then the winter of 78 and 79. The hamburgers were the best with raw onions. I loved member nights on Sunday when the coals were put on to barbecue on the fireplace and had the draw for the bottle of Casa Mendes!
