This is truth! When the air is hot and dry in Labrador West (and it really does get that way...honest!) with the sun beating down, the reflection of the sunlight off the particles of iron ore in the soil makes the whole area appear to sparkle and twinkle. It is one of the most memorable things that I have about the place. I've never seen anything like it anywhere else I've been. One of those hidden miracles that make all the cold and pestulance worth it

I loved the sparkle and twinkle in winter, so clean( well without the tailings dust) and pure. I especially loved cross county skiing or snowshoeing and thinking that no one else but me had been here and the only sound was of snow making a "whump"as it fell from the tree. That was before skidoos were rampant! I just wrote a little story about my love of snow last week.
